Description:
Directions for installation of SP18058 Replacement Scout II Fuse panel EARLY

This panel is made to fit 7.5 years of production, 1971 to 1978. (FUSE PANEL UNDER DASH) There will be wires that you don ‘t use. If you do not need them, either remove the wires or cover the ends with electrical tape to protect them from arching to a ground. This installation requires an experienced electrical engineer.

Step 1. Remove screws that hold old panel in place.

Step 2. Remove wire #50, 14A, and 15 from the back of old panel. These wires will be in a two spade plastic connector that will need to be removed. Remove the plastic connector by sliding a very small flat screwdriver up inside to depress the space connector’s tang that holds it in place.

Step 3. Plug those wires into the blue wires on the new panel that are marked with #50, 14A, and 15. (You may not need to use all three blue wires.)

These three blue wires bring power into the panel that is directly from the battery and these circuits are always on.

Step 4. Remove wires #70A, 77, 14C, and 82. (on some years they are #8B and 62). Then plug them into the white wires that are marked with #70A, 77, 14C and 82. You may not use all 4 wires. (These carry switched power from the Ignition switch. These are circuits that are off when you Scout is not turned on and running.)

At this point you have all the power at your panel.

Step 5 Remove the long 6 space plastic connector. These wires supply power, from the fuses to all the electrical devices on your Scout. The plastic 6-space connector will need to be removed. Each wire will plug into a space on the side of the new fuse panel. The new panel is marked with the circuits that will be protected.

Step 6. Do not confuse the ones that need battery power with the wires that need switched power. There will be stickers on your new panel to help you identify where they need to plug into the new panel.

The bottom third of the panel is battery power. Plug #70, 60, 11A, 63, 68 into this section.
The top two thirds is switched power. Plug 55, 71, 86, and 75 and any radio or accessories that you have added, into this section.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS PANEL IS COVERING 7 YEARS OF PRODUCTION AND YOUR WIRE NUMBERS MAY VARY.

Fits: 1971 Scout II, 1971 Scout 800, 1972 Scout II, 1973 Scout II, 1974 Scout II, 1975 Scout II, 1976 Scout II, 1976 Scout II Diesel, 1977 Scout II, 1977 Scout II Diesel, 1978 Scout II, 1978 Scout II Diesel
