Axle Parts: We sell most axle-related parts for your International Scout. Scout 80s from 1961-65 had a Dana 27 axle in both front and rear. Starting in 1966, Scout 800s had a Dana 27 axle in the front and a Dana 44 axle in the rear. The first Scout IIs in 1971 had a Dana 30 axle in the front and a Dana 44 in the rear. Later Scout IIs starting in 1975 had a Dana 44 axle in the front as well as rear. You can identify which axle you have by measuring the outer diameter of the axle tube. Dana 27 and Dana 30 have an outer diameter of 2 1/4" whereas Dana 44 has an outer diameter of 2 3/4". Keep in mind that it is very common for a previous owner of your Scout to have swapped in a non-standard axle for that year. We have encountered many, many Scout 80s and 800s where a Jeep axle has been swapped in and plenty of early Scout IIs where a later Dana 44 axle has been swapped into the front. Remember: Dirt, grease and rust don't mean it's original!
